# Existing shop moved to a custom WooCommerce solution

CBD Theke was moved from a previous shop system to a custom-developed WooCommerce shop. The familiar look was kept and technically modernised.

## Starting point

The existing online shop was based on a different shop builder. For further development, a dedicated WooCommerce solution was to be created without giving up the shop’s familiar visual identity.

Besides the technical move, custom adjustments and features were needed that go beyond a plain standard installation.

## Requirements & challenges

- Replace the existing shop from a previous system
- Keep the look despite a technical rebuild
- Implement custom WooCommerce adjustments in a maintainable way
- Keep the shop updated and secured on an ongoing basis after the migration

## Implementation

1. Record the existing shop The structure, design and required features of the previous system were recorded as the basis for the migration.
2. Create the WooCommerce foundation The shop was rebuilt technically in WordPress and WooCommerce.
3. Carry over the design The familiar visual style was transferred to the new technical foundation and adapted to current requirements.
4. Extend shop features Custom WooCommerce features and project-specific adjustments were added.
5. Continue operation Maintenance, troubleshooting, security, SEO and performance are looked after on an ongoing basis.

## Technical decision

### New system, familiar look

A shop migration doesn’t automatically mean replacing the entire look. Here the focus was on keeping the familiar design while creating a more flexible WooCommerce foundation.

Custom features were implemented within the new architecture, so the shop can be developed further without remaining tied to the original builder.

## Outcome

### WooCommerce instead of a builder

The shop runs on a WordPress and WooCommerce foundation that can be customised freely.

### Recognisability preserved

The existing visual identity was kept despite the technical rebuild.

### Further development possible

Custom features and ongoing technical optimisation can be added in a targeted way.
