### Client

Lichtungen

### Project

Relaunch & further development

### Services

WordPress · WooCommerce · Maintenance

### Collaboration

Design: TASKA · Development: JK Concepts

## Starting point

The existing magazine website was to be rebuilt technically from the ground up. The brief was not a short-term design tweak, but an independent WordPress foundation for editorial work and project-specific features.

After the relaunch, a second task followed: e-books and printed magazines were to be sold directly through the same platform.

## Requirements & challenges

- Implement a custom design as a dedicated WordPress theme
- Connect editorial content and project-specific features cleanly
- Integrate e-books and print editions into one shared WooCommerce shop
- Continue to develop and support the platform technically after launch

## Implementation

1. Structure the requirements Content, page types and required features were organised as the basis for the technical architecture.
2. Develop the WordPress theme The design was implemented as a custom theme without relying on a ready-made page template.
3. Integrate features Project-specific requirements were built directly into the website structure and the editorial workflow.
4. Add WooCommerce The existing site was later extended to sell digital and printed issues.
5. Ongoing support Maintenance, security and technical SEO and performance optimisation continue on an ongoing basis.

## Technical decision

### Why a custom theme was the right foundation

The project combines magazine, archive and shop. A custom-developed WordPress foundation keeps these areas together in one system and allows project-specific features without depending on a ready-made all-purpose theme.

As a result, the later WooCommerce extension could be integrated into the existing site instead of building a separate shop with its own maintenance and a different design.

## Outcome

### Independent platform

The literary magazine runs on a custom-developed WordPress foundation.

### Magazine and sales connected

Digital and printed issues are offered through the integrated WooCommerce shop.

### Continuous operation

Technical upkeep, security, performance and SEO are developed further on an ongoing basis.

## Sensible next steps

Related services work together, but each one can be commissioned on its own.

### Website redesign

Move existing content and features onto a new technical foundation in a controlled way.

### WooCommerce development

Implement custom shop features and existing business processes technically.

### Website maintenance in Graz

Run production websites securely and maintainably after launch.

## Facing a similar relaunch?

If content, custom features and sales are to come together in a maintainable WordPress solution, we start by clarifying the starting point and technical dependencies.
