Leseland and Lesezentrum were separated from the shared multisite network.
WordPress · Multisite migration & security
Leseland Steiermark and Lesezentrum Steiermark were moved from a shared multisite network into two independent websites. At the same time, security problems were fixed and older technical structures modernised.
The two websites were organised within a shared WordPress multisite system. At the same time, there were security problems, a need for repairs and technical legacy issues in older themes.
The aim was to separate Leseland Steiermark and Lesezentrum Steiermark technically, migrate them into independent websites and gradually make the existing systems more secure and maintainable.
The network, websites, themes and existing technical dependencies were recorded.
Known vulnerabilities and technical errors were addressed as part of the stabilisation.
Leseland and Lesezentrum were moved from the multisite network into separate installations.
The existing themes were repaired and gradually adapted to current requirements.
Both websites are maintained, secured and technically improved on an ongoing basis.
Leseland and Lesezentrum are two independent public sites, but technically their separation was one shared migration project. Two almost identical subpages would explain the actual starting point less well and create needlessly similar content.
The split reduces the operational dependency between the websites. Since then, changes, maintenance and further development can be handled in a more controlled way per installation.

Related services work together, but each one can be commissioned on its own.
I analyse dependencies, security risks and migration paths and develop a controlled plan for separation, repair or modernisation.
